I’ve been a bit busy recently, even if I am supposed to be on “vacation” here at home. Fixing stuff, going somewhere… Never a dull moment. Just how I like it when I am a bit bored.

I’ve spent the day in Oslo together with a bunch of friends playing mahjong. We got invited over to 302 by Patrick, and ended up having two tables with people playing. My table consisted of Hiep, Patrick, Sophia and myself. Really fun meeting everyone again, especially Sophia and also Ingvild. I started out with a dealer yakuhai sandora. My luck basically went out after that, and I finished last when we ended the game. Still incredibly much fun playing with others live instead of Tenhou.

I’m going on yet another trip to Oslo tomorrow, attending a Final Fantasy gathering. I’ve played a few games, but I must admit that I’m there for the social stuff. There’s a convention on Sunday too, but I don’t really know if I’ll attend that yet. Will find out tomorrow I guess, depends on wether I’m convinced by some to go or not.

Yesterday, I went to a local café called Café Frikvarter here in Mysen. Ate a pretty good soup, but the hot chocolate was wonderful. My friend ordered a double mocca. Loved the little heart in the mocca, and the chocolate sauce and cream in my chocolate tasted just as good as it looked too.

Oh, and look at my breakfast today! Omnomnom~

A but tired right now, but I am too happy to go to sleep yet. I’ve basically had a great day! First of all, today is the one year anniversary for me and my boyfriend. I went to Oslo today to meet up with him, and we watched a movie. Valentine’s Day, to be exact. Cozy movie, the kid (Edison I think) was just too cute!

I also went shopping for some food from the Asian supermarkets:

  • A package of Japanese curry
  • Daifuku: 3 anko flavoured, and 3 matcha
  • Ingredients for Pho
  • Matcha powder, for ice cream and pastries and such
  • Oyster sauce
  • Spring roll dough, making fried bananas and some other fried food some day in near future

Nothing more to report! :D

Just finished a small batch of hanami dango, japanese three-coloured dumplings. I got the recipe from the Manga Cookbook, which my boyfriend gave to me for my birthday. It’s a really nice book, would recommend it to anyone as an introduction to making Japanese food.

I’ve spent ages looking for the right type of flour. Both mochiko and shiratamako are extremely hard to find in Norway unless you live in Oslo, and you MUST use these types of rice flour to get it right. Regular rice flour is just used to get the dango more firm. I managed to find some in Sweden, but used food colouring instead of matcha powder, since I didn’t find that.

Sticky stuff, but very delicious!

The title says it all really. This weekend was the best weekend in a very long time. My life just turned social again! xD

On Friday, I went to Askim to pick up Tina. We went to Østfoldbadet, a water park located in Askim. It was really fun to swin again, it has been ages since I’ve been able to swim. Besides, it’s rather good for my leg too. And the jacuzzi outside was a nice touch. It snowed and was rather windy, which made it even more comfy to soak in the warm water outside. After this, we went to a Chinese restaurant called “Nye Asia”. Being one of the few Chinese restaurants in the area, I figured I should visit when I got the chance. And I wasn’t disappointed. We got a three courses meal, tea and some soda for about 200 NOK each. Really cheap considering the amount of food we were given. I have to go again some time.

I drove to Oslo later that night, and picked up my boyfriend. He had a weekend off, so he came with me back to my place. I still get butterflies in my stomach out of nowhere when driving to pick him up or meeting him somewhere. Kind of fun really. Anyway, we spent Saturday doing absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. Really relaxing. I have a bad habit falling asleep pretty fast, so I kind of feel sorry for him having to be up all alone. xD

On Sunday, we went to Sweden together with a bunch of people! Those trips are always full of fun stuff. Didn’t really buy much though. I was a bit worried over my leg and all, but it went pretty smoothly. It kind of hurts now, but I’m home now anyway so… : D I came home to my aunt’s adorable, confused puppy too. We’re taking care of him for a few days, his name is Pontus. Bamse, our dog, is not that happy about our house guest though. I think the age difference is bugging him, having a pup wanting to play with you all the time must be rather tiring. xD

On another note, I finally managed to sort out some appartment stuff. I’ve decided to keep my mouth shut this time, and just wait for things to go their own way. By all probability, it’s bound to happen sometime, even if when and where could be ages away. In the mean time, I’ll just go by my own pace. I’m trying to get an appartment for at least a year, and I’ve began checking out some more dorms and stuff. Need to get a job as well, but I don’t think that will be a problem. If only for the weekends, I might work at Rema here in Mysen in the beginning, before I find something more frequent in Oslo.

Late night rambling is late, but it’s not like I need to get up early tomorrow. Oh, wait. I do. Dogs don’t walk themselves. G’night then!

A lot has been happening the past few days. I went to get my assignment evaluated at Monday. Went pretty well, I have to rewrite some passages, but it was only a first draft, so I’m happy. I went to the doctor’s office on Tuesday. Bloodsamples were good this time around too, so I’ll only have to go once a week now instead of twice. I went back to Mysen yesterday for a vacation. Don’t know how long I’ll stay though, I planned to stay until the 3rd of March. But since my boyfriend ended up with a lot of work, I’m not able to see him much anyway, so I don’t really know how long I’ll be home anymore.

Being home got me thinking. I’ve been thinking for a while actually. Since I’m moving to Oslo this autumn, where am I supposed to live? I’ve gotten quite a few offers on places after that, but I guess there’s particulary one thing that’s holding me back from accepting any of them. I remember back when I was talking with my better half this summer about moving to Oslo. And I kind of remember having some plans with him too. I doubt he remembers it though, so I’m still unsure wether I should mention it or just shut up and let it go. He’s kind of made plans again after that I think, but I don’t hear much about it really, so I don’t know what he’s up to at all.

One thing’s for sure though, I want to move into Oslo. In the worst case scenario, I’ll be moving home here to Mysen for a while. But I don’t want to bother my mom by doing so, and I think it’s best for me to find something in Oslo myself instead of living home. Although my mother said it wouldn’t bother her at all, I kind of think I should be kind of independent at this age. Or, at least if I’ve been living by myself for two years already. Moreover, I need a place to live in for a long period of time. Kind of reassuring having a place where one is secured living space for as long as one need it.

Thinking about this stuff, I ended up applying for an appartment at Bjølsen Studentby in Oslo for the upcoming autumn. It’s got a bathroom, a kitchen stove and some furniture in it already, and for the same price as my current dorm room at Voll Studentby in Trondheim. I doubt I’ll get it though, but it will be a pleasant surprise if I do. I really liked the layout of the room and stuff, so I kind of hope I will get it. I’m kind of confused with everything and what’s really happening, so more backups won’t hurt me really.

Long title indeed. Well, it just so happens that all these four events collide on just this very day in 2010. While Valentine’s Day is set to be February 14th., the latter three follows a different system. They just happened to be at the same day this year.

  • Mother’s Day in Norway is always celebrated at the second Sunday of February, which is the 14th. in 2010
  • Chinese New Years follows the Lunar Calendar, which also happens to be the 14th.
  • Fastelavn, or fastelaven, is usually celebrated on the Sunday before Ash Wednesday, which in turn happens a set number of days before Easter.  Fastelavn happened to be the 14th. this year. I’m not sure which Nordic countries celebrates this event, but Denmark seems to do it as well.

Here’s what you can expect this Spring season! Looks rather good, really. Guess I’ll be following a few on a regular basis by the looks of it. Here’s what I plan on watching for sure:

Working!!
Airs: April 2010
Official website: http://www.wagnaria.com/

This is an adaption of the 4koma manga going by the same name, created by Takatsu Karino. I’ve read a few panels, and I absolutely adore the pace of the manga. I really hope the anime will be as enjoyable as the manga.

Kaichou wa Maid-sama
Airs: April 2010
Official website (anime): http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/maidsama/

Yet another adaption, this time from Fujiwara Hiro’s manga by the same name. Never read any of it, but the story seems interesting enough. Plus the fact that I am a total sucker for shoujo series. xD

Hakuouki: Shinsengumi Kitan
Airs: April 2010
Official website (game): http://www.otomate.jp/hakuoki/

This is actually a game adaption. Never heard of any of the games, but the art captured me in an instant. So pretty! I want those kimonos.

K-on!!
Airs: April 6th, 2010
Offical website: http://www.tbs.co.jp/anime/k-on/

Yui~! Music~! Need I say more? :3

I’ll also check out Hetalia, Black Rock Shooter, Geijutsuka Art Class and Gundam Unicorn. I’ve kind of fallen behind on Hetalia for quite a while, and the last three mentioned are OVA’s (or specials like the G.A. one), so they won’t be out on regular basis like the weekly stuff. That’s why I didn’t bother to mention these above. xD

Rather tiring having a blood clot. Loads of doctor visits and too little time for blogging. >.< The blood values are stabilizing at a good level right now though, so finally I might be able to escape for a while. Now, on to business!

As I’ve previously mentioned, January 29th was my birthday, and I got lots of precious gifts from everyone. Loved the one from my boyfriend though. A very funny book, a Japanese cookbook (it tells how to make home made noodles and dango and such!), and another little thingie I won’t say what is. But it was adorable. <3 I paid a bit myself for a new phone, and my mother payed the other half for my birthday gift. Other things include…

  • A lot of money, which are, by now, spent on food, medicines, rquired books listed on our pensum for this year’s courses, a few figures and some stuff.
  • Some PC-related stuff from my brother. I have yet to see what it really is.
  • Cups and mugs from my friends. They heard about my cups being broken all the time by my fellow dorm members, and bought me a few, as well as some chocolate.

I just turned 21 last Friday! :3 And my birthday gift you say? A trip to the hospital the Saturday after, and getting hospitalized instantly. Now I’m stuck with a rather bandaged leg, some shots to take every morning and evening, and some other medication. Why? I got a thrombus, a blood clot.

My left leg had been a bit bad lately. It hurt, was sore and twice as big as normal. I thought it was a torn muscle or two, since I’ve had that before. So I waited, and it got better. Friday night it took a turn for the worse. I woke up Saturday finding I could barely walk. I went to the apotechary and talked to them, and got some painkillers and stuff. Didn’t help much, so I called my great-aunt, and went to the emergency clinic as soon as possible.

This post will be in Norwegian only. Feel free to look at the images and stuff in case you find something you like, and if you see a possible buy, just contact me, and I’ll translate the information for you. :3 Also posted at http://forum.japani.no
