– desu.no

Gyaaaaaaaa~ It is over! Stuff I’ve been working on since… A long time ago, is over! I’m really tired, but surprisingly awake right now. Desucon was -the- most awesome event ever, and I am really happy to have participated as crew. It seems like the visitors are really exited about it as well, so I’m very happy to have helped out. The info crew was awesome, I am so lucky to have been a part of it. Although we tried to help everyone out (and I really hope we did help somebody), I think a few kind of hated us or thought we were incompetent. At least they were pretty mad at us for stuff we couldn’t manage to fix. It’s all part of the job though, somebody has to bring both the bad and the good news to people. But we tried our best, and I hope at least some of you felt our efforts.

Luckily, there wasn’t really many of those. Most people were utterly polite and joyful and lovable. I got to help a couple of cute cosplayers I just wanted to hug, as well as mothers and people with lost phones and bags. God, I want to do this again. <3

Stuff learned during this year’s convention

  • People usually runs away before you’re done explaining the way to them. I never managed to give them a proper map before they ran off into a hurry to reach Sub.Scene. xD
  • Some people are really awesome and will love you forever when you find their missing stuff. <3
  • Explaining the whereabouts of stuff isn’t easy when the person never actually listen to you. I think I said “Spiseri Møller” about a hundred gazillion times, but so far it seems nobody got it right. >.<
  • Some people are just plain blind.
  • Awesome and huge banners usually stick out and make things visible. :’D
  • Swedish people don’t really think we understand them, and thus speak English to us. They were awesome though, so they’re forgiven. <3
  • Google – helping foreign guys finding out they’re in the wrong city.
  • Hablablabla!?

Sorry about the smiley overload, I’m a bit too exited. This whole experience was awesome, and on top of this, I’m going to Japan in just a day!

I’m awake. At 06:45. Been awake for almost an hour, but I’ve tried sleeping or just keeping my eyes closed to get some rest. Kind of worked, until my body figured I was awake and refused to cooperate. I think it’s some kind of payback-time for sleeping a lot lately. Really nauseous, UTI hit with full force, and thus I am placed under my warm blanket awake at 06:45. Not very amused.

There’s now only 5 days until Desucon, and I’m really looking forward to it! We actually attended a radio interview yesterday evening with NRK Østlandssendingen. I’m very afraid I’ll sound like a complete moron, but that is nothing new anyway, haha. The interview was really on a whim sort of. I was sitting at home in my PJ’s when I suddenly saw they needed cosplayers for something. And then I got recruited, along with Tina, haha. xD

We talked about pretty much everthing related to cosplay; from what kind of characters we cosplay and how much money we’re spending on this (I am -so- glad my mother won’t hear it, haha), to cosplay in Norway and what our definition of cosplay is.

Now, driving from Mysen to Oslo takes approx. 1 hour. But I was stopped by the police in a speed limit control (no, I wasn’t speeding, they only checked my license). Those radars are really scary, they pop up from nowhere! Before that, quite a lot happened. I wasn’t really sure if I should go, got into a fight, and kind of decided not to go and went to bed. Then I got a call from Karoline, in which I hope I didn’t scare her with a bit of tears and drama, and decided to go anyway. Needless to say, I jumped into the car with the first costume bag I could find, as well as my sewing machine and some materials. I kind of feel sorry for the Secret Organization members here, having us invading their home when they weren’t even at home in the first place. And they even had pizza for everyone afterwards. You’re awesome, I owe you a cake again. :3

Things kind of fixed themselves later during the evening, but I still feel kind of bad for going. It was tons of fun, so I don’t regret going, but on the other hand I sort of do regret it. Complicated feelings, I’ll never understand them properly. Well, it is not the end of the world if I don’t understand them properly either. I plan to live for a long, long time.

I realized I hadn’t written anything since the day before my first exam. Yes, I am alive. The exam itself actually went pretty well. I do not expect any extraordinary grades or something, but I know I’ll pass. The last few days went by in a hurry, except for Monday. I’d bought too little food, and ended up spending the day being hungry since the stores were closed. I guess that’s pretty much it. xD I visited Wok Away again after my exam last Friday, as a treat for finishing. Good stuff, good stuff! And I just love their concept. It is a bit sad that I won’t be able to visit them every now and then, now that I’m moving back to Oslo though. They’ve got good food.

Exam Papers

Yes! I’ll be moving back to Oslo (just in case I haven’t mentioned it around 1000 times already). In fact, I’ll be moving back in less than TWO WEEKS! Rejoice! God, I’m exited. But at the same time, a little sad. There’s still a bunch of stuff I could have done here in Trondheim. And it is a really pretty city. However, it’s not like I’m leaving for good. I still have family up here, and I’ll still be able to visit Trondheim every now and then. I’m not dead yet or something. Two years of my life have been spent here, but it doesn’t really feel like it. And I’m kind of nervous about breaking off my studies, and then start again at the University of Oslo. I think I’ll manage somehow though.

The next few days will be spent packing, sewing costumes, and preparing for my HIST1110 exam; Ancient History. I still need to finish my friend’s Someya Mako costume, and get started on my own Takei Hisa (both from -Saki-). We’ll be bringing awesome, sparkling mahjong to Desucon, so watch out! Well, not really, but at least we’ll bring mahjong. To play. If we have the time. Probably not. But maybe before Desucon! They are -Saki- costumes, after all. And oh god, packing. I’m not looking forward to it. So much! And I’ve recently gotten my hands on some more merchandise too…

Not to mention the mountain of books I have aquired, and the 30 issues of COSMODE Magazine resting peacefully at my desk. And the vacum cleaner. And my 10 litre casserole. And my new shelf. And my TV / computer screen. And the bench. Oh dear… I really hope we’ll manage to bring all of it back.

I’ll go back to playing some Pokémon SoulSilver and watching the Eurovision semi-finals now. n_n

Desucon is an annual Japanese culture, Sci-Fi and fantasy convention. The venue is arranged for the fifth time this year, and is Norway’s biggest event of this kind. This year’s Desucon will be held at Oslo Congress Centre 26th and 27th of June.

Desucon provides the visitors with a varied program, in which you are guaranteed to find something you are interested in. There will be lectures, debates, competitions and contests for the visitors, and a range of stands will be present. In addition, a cosplay competition, as well as other cosplay events, will be arranged, and the troopers of Nordic Garrison will be visiting this year as well. Last year’s success, The Great Auction, is back in action this year.

In collaboration with Guren Promotions, this year’s Desucon will feature a concert with the Japanese rock band Versailles. The concert itself will be held at Samfunnssalen in Oslo, Saturday 26th of June. More information about the concert can be found at http://guren.me.

Further information about Desucon can be found at http://desu.no. In addition, Desucon is found at Twitter and Facebook, as well on our IRC-channel #desucon at EFNet.

It’s been almost a week since I left Mysen and headed back for Trondheim. Not much has happened since then, Trondheim is a rather boring place to be right now, since most of the people either are home during their pre-exam period, or stuck at libraries all day preparing. My dorm is the exeption I guess, but I don’t feel like joining them in getting drunk every week-end (and sometimes during week-days as well), or ruining the hall by playing ball-games inside. I’m also a bit mad that they don’t respect other people’s property. My tableware’s pretty much broken, from tiny cups to dinner plates. Thanks guys! *sigh*

I’ve started preparing for my exams. I’m attending some sort of pre-exam seminar later on today, there’s two of these left. I figured they would be rather helpful. Since I didn’t manage to attend the last one, I think I’ll ask our supervisor if I can get the tasks from last time’s session to prepare myself for the upcoming exams. I do have a good explanation for my absense, so I think it will be okay.  At least I hope so.

I’ve sold quite a lot of my stuff too! Tharanee’s been so kind to buy all my Inu Yasha volumes and my Fullmetal Alchemist artbook. She’ll get a volume of Cardcaptor Sakura as a gift. xD She also presented my C.C.-costume to her sister, and guess what she did! She bought it. *squeeel* I’m so happy it’ll finally be used! I also sold her my C.C. wig, since I won’t be needing it. I still have a lot to get rid of, both costumes and books. Check out these links to see if you find something interesting! (I will ship overseas too, but shipping from Norway is rather expensive, so the rates might be a bit high.)

+ Naruto, Shaman King, Negima!, How to Draw Manga
+ Macross, Tsubasa, Bleach-costumes, Naruto Headbands and Cardcaptor Sakura Clow Wand

Other than that, comissions are coming along pretty nicely. I’ve been working on a Chii-costume for quite a while, and I finished it yesterday. All that’s left is to send the buyer a mail and get some shipping arrangements done. After that I’ll be starting on a couple of Saki-costumes, one Takei  Hisa for myself, and one Someya Mako for Tharanee. Those are rather simple sailor uniforms, so not too much work, luckily. I’ve ordered a wig for my Sakuya-costume as well, so I think I’m pretty much settled for Desucon now.

Been watching Personal Taste, a korean drama, lately. I wish I had a Sanggojae to live in and an awesome roommate like Jin-ho. xD (My boyfriend kind of reminds me of him sometimes though, even if there are some differenches here and there, haha. xD The cooking part is probably true though, he’s a much better cook than me.)

Money well spent. Or, at least I think it is well spent. At least I’ve bought a train ticket back home to Trondheim! I’ll be leaving Oslo on Tuesday 20th, at 4:16 p.m. I won’t be in Trondheim before sometime around 11 p.m., but that’s okay really. It’s not like I have school on Wednesday anyway, and I’d rather spend a few hours in Oslo before I leave. Maybe I’ll pick up some food and a pack of daifuku before I get on the train too.

You know the cosplay group I said something about a little while ago? We’re finally getting around to really plan something! This is going to be awesome. We’re planning on making a full Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle group for this autumn’s own cosplay convention in Oslo.  That’s right, a very own convention dedicated to cosplay and cosplayers! No date is set, and it’s only in the planning stages as of yet, but I really think the idea is fantastic. I’m really looking forward to it.

It’s been about two days since I came back to Trondheim. So far, so good. I’ve been sick since Saturday though, with fever, a stuffy nose and a sore throat. I think I’m about to get better though, kind of feels like I am.

My figma Mio came in the mail yesterday. Her arm was broken! Seems like there’s some kind of production fault on some of them. The arm joint didn’t fit in the body at all, so I had to adjust the size of the joint. Worked pretty well, the arm’s on now at least. Now, both Yui and Mio stand at my shelf. n_n

I’ve also been working on setting up a forum for our cosplay group at http://forum.engetsu.net. We’re in the midst of recruiting members right now, and our founder Vesnet hasn’t seen the forum yet. It’s kind of a surprise in that sense. Both me and Tharanee figured it would be easier to contact each other if we had a place to post ideas and such, and since I have pretty much endless space on my domain, I figured I could host a forum or two. The group is nameless as of yet, but I’m sure we’ll come up with a name sometime.

Tomorrow will be a tiring day. I have to attend a feedback session at school for my recently delivered assignment (which was crap, so I’ll probably get a lot of comments on that). No worries though, final submission of the same assignment is on Friday 19th. Lots of time.

I guess I better get going.  Should be cleaning up the mess here right now, I’m way behind schedual. >.<

This post will be in Norwegian only. Feel free to look at the images and stuff in case you find something you like, and if you see a possible buy, just contact me, and I’ll translate the information for you. :3 Also posted at http://forum.japani.no

In the midst of all things happening, I completely forgot to write. Not that I had the motivation anyway though… x3 Anyhow, let’s get back to business.

The boring things I’ve done include writing two assignments for school, as well as attending  obligatory feedback sessions and stuff like that. I don’t really feel like going into explaining this any further, just because it is so darn boring. On the opposite side of boring things, Desucon. I’ve kind of been in Desucon-mode since the middle of August, planning stuff together with the Medic Crew and later on joining Info in writing for desu.no. I think I have to stick with one of them next year, this turned out to be a race of things to do a couple of weeks before the convention itself. I’ll probably apply to Info, just because I feel like I’m actually doing some useful stuff there. I mean, Medic is useful too, I just feel that I lack enough experience to be a proper Medic, and that I may contribute a bit more when in Info. Still not sure though, but I think I’ll switch.
